With its sharp contrast of black and white, this painting strikes me as a woodblock print, which I dissect into three layers.
The top layer portrays a huge Taihu rock shooting up from the ground, towering over a tall upright structure in the mid layer to connect with the hilly bottom layer in the upper-right corner.
The twisted rockery, the angular steel concrete, and the irregular hills, although shaped differently, each impart a masculine feel.
The convergence of these building blocks helps to create tension. The otherwise solid middle structure seems to be torn apart by some invisible force and is melting down. What hint did the artist drop? Does the advance of human civilization conflict with eternal nature?
The artistic presentation is as bold as it is thought-provoking.

艺术家简介：
刘华，1982年毕业于广州美术学院中国画系，曾执教于衡阳师范专科学校（现衡阳师范学院美术系），现居苏州为职业艺术家，从事绘画、雕塑、摄影、艺术景观设计、平面设计、艺术理论研究及网络写作，著有《走进新景观》一书。2001年至今21年间一直潜心拍摄研究苏州古典园林和现代实验水墨创作。
